Long Wharf COmmunity Engagement
Client: Long Wharf Theatre

As part of the 57th season at the historic Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Atelier Cho Thompson created a series of interactive installations to accompany productions. Chromatic, an engagement piece for Queen by Mahuir Shekar
Chromatic celebrates the relentless pursuit for discovery and innovation, drawing inspiration from the scientific research that helps us understand our environment and preserve it for future generations. The intervention creates a dynamic space with bright gradients of suspended ribbons. It is delicate, layered and tactile, and encourages play and frolic. Mathematical formulas are inscribed into the ribbons, offering a peek into the scientist’s mind. Accompanied by ambient sounds of bees
collecting pollen, Chromatic invites visitors to immerse themselves into a playful rendition of nature and salute endeavors to preserve it.

Haven, an engagement piece for the world premiere of Dream Hou$e by Eliana Pipes
The idea of ‘home’ carries different meanings for us all, evoking varied emotions, images, and stories. ‘Home’ is a dilemma- its essence is transitional, yet its memory perpetual. In Haven, luminescent lines form the silhouette of a typical house; as you enter, voices engulf you, sharing their ideas of what ‘home’ means. The after-image of Haven remains in our mind’s eye like a remembrance of the places we have called home. In its bare, dream-like state, Haven invites you to reflect on your idea of ‘home’- What is home’ Where is home? What makes you feel at home?
